Job description
This is a chance to shape the internal developer platform behind one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges.
The business is already operating at serious scale, with hundreds of engineers and more than 2,000 microservices, and is now building a next-generation Financial Cloud platform to support how its engineering teams build, secure and deploy software.
They’re looking for a Principal Platform Architect to define that architecture and help build it.
This isn’t a role where you’ll sit above the engineering work. It’s roughly 50% architecture and 50% hands-on implementation, so you’ll be expected to make the big technical decisions and stay close enough to the code and platform to bring them to life.
The role
You’ll take ownership of the architecture behind the internal developer platform, covering large-scale build systems, Kubernetes, GitOps, service dependencies, version governance and software supply-chain security.
A big part of the challenge is scale. You’ll be helping create the engineering standards and platform patterns needed to support thousands of services while making builds faster, deployments safer and dependencies easier to manage.
You’ll work across areas such as Bazel, Buck, Pants or Nx, alongside Kubernetes and GitOps tooling, while helping shape how the wider organisation approaches platform architecture and developer experience.
This is a role with real technical influence, working closely with senior engineering teams while still being hands-on enough to design, build and improve the platform directly.
What we're looking for
Significant experience designing and building large-scale developer platforms.
Strong architecture experience across Kubernetes, GitOps and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with large-scale build systems such as Bazel, Buck, Pants or Nx.
Deep understanding of service dependencies, versioning and software supply-chain security.
Comfortable working across both architecture and implementation.
Experience operating at significant engineering scale, ideally across hundreds of engineers or large microservice environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior technical stakeholders.
Experience within crypto, fintech or another highly regulated environment would be a big plus.
