Job description

​The Head of Digital Strategy & Performance is responsible for collaborating with the Chief Digital Officer to provide strategic guidance and support for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities within the organization. This role involves offering top-level strategic direction to various business and support units, including Retail, SME, Wealth Management, and Private Banking.

Additionally, the incumbent will serve as a thought partner for senior leadership in Retail Banking and Wealth Management, contributing to strategic discussions and assisting in the identification, development, and evaluation of new opportunities aligned with business objectives.


  • Assist the Chief Digital Officer in advising on strategic group business opportunities and providing top-level strategic direction and support to different business and support units in Retail, SME, Wealth Management, and Private Banking Businesses.

  • Act as a thought partner on key strategic issues for senior leadership within Retail Banking and Wealth Management.

  • Identify, develop, and evaluate new opportunities and options aligned with business objectives.

  • Collect relevant strategic information (business initiatives, internal data) across the division and analyze growth opportunities, aligning them with the overall bank strategy and plans.

  • Conduct in-depth research on banking trends in Retail Banking and Wealth Management.Perform detailed assessments of competitor performance and carry out peer benchmarking.

  • Hold strategy workshops to understand key business plans and requirements.

  • Develop medium and long-term strategies covering financial, people, customer, and process aspects.

  • Align objectives and strategies within and outside Retail Banking and Wealth Management and track and enable their achievement.

  • Provide support for CEO Reviews, Retail Banking and Wealth Management LT meetings, and other relevant meetings.

  • Analyze strengths and weaknesses of Business Units/Support Units (BU/SUs), develop actions to improve performance jointly with the leadership team, and track initiative implementation.

  • Regularly monitor the achievement and implementation of annual plans.

  • Align unit-wise plans with overall Retail Banking and Wealth Management plans.

  • Analyze markets to identify business opportunities, generate new ideas, and assist in project design.

  • Support new business ventures in the start-up phase jointly with the business.

  • Support sourcing of market research to derive customer and market insights.

  • Cooperate with external consultants.

  • Benchmark performance against the market, track revenue pools, and market shares.

  • Prepare thought leadership articles and notes, press releases.

  • Provide support for investor relations.

  • Leverage industry organizations, conferences, and research.

  • Assist in the development of strategic plans for the bank and the Group.

  • Help in the development and implementation of bank-wide strategic projects.

  • Support offsites and town halls.

  • Assist with the coordination of centralized initiatives across the group, such as recognition programs and workshops.

  • Represent the division in bank-wide committees.

Description of Knowledge/Skills:

  • Masters in Business Administration.

  • Degree from top-ranked universities (preferred majors are finance, accounting, economics, marketing, business administration).

  • 10 years in strategy consulting and at least 5-7 years in banking, e-commerce, retail, wealth/strategy, and business building experience.

  • Specific experience in Retail Banking & Wealth Management.

  • Prior experience in the UAE is a plus.

  • Strong business judgment and superior problem-solving abilities, particularly in strategic business and financial analysis.

  • Strong numerate, data analysis, and data interpretation skills.

  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to think strategically for the organization.

  • Ability to manage and lead projects independently.

  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills and an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Able to build relationships and network effectively and gain broad respect throughout the organization.

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
