​I am working with a digital delivery disruptor who has come up with the most efficient, time-saving and environmentally sustainable concept. This successful delivery app continues to disrupt the status quo throughout Dubai by offering a service that is rarely seen across the globe.

Job purpose - what will you do:

As the Head of Operations, you will have a pivotal role in designing and executing the company's strategy and objectives. You will oversee the entire operations function of the company, namely fleet management & maintenance, depot operations, logistics (first, middle and last mile), and planning & optimization. You will lead a large division and build the necessary capabilities within the team.

You will spearhead the company's aggressive growth plans through fleet expansion, depot expansion, efficiency gains, automation, and capability building. My client is looking for a natural leader who thrives in a multifunctional environment. A strong critical thinker, leveraging, logic, data and on-ground realities to generate and execute actionable recommendations.

For this role, you need to be process driven and ensure all operational processes are streamlined. As a key leader among the company's leadership, you have a natural tendency to be an owner of the business, making sure that your domain of responsibility is synchronised with the overall company's objectives. You will lead by example, setting the culture and work environment that brings out the best version of each Individual. You will enable multifunctional collaboration, ensuring your organization is well-integrated within the wider company.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work hand-In-hand with leaders of the company to build and execute the company's ambitious growth strategy

  • Design and build the operations function organization, governance, processes and tools necessary needed to achieve maximum operational efficiency

  • Lead and enable a high-performance team and culture, with the needed capacity, capabilities and tools

Key responsibilities - what you will be responsible for:

  • Full accountability of the company's operations function, namely fleet management & maintenance, depot operations, logistics, and planning & optimization

  • Full accountability of the company's operational KPIs and targets, driving continual Improvement

  • Full accountability for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operations budget

  • Designing and executing the company's operations strategy, which Includes maximizing operational efficiency gains, asset utilisation, cost efficiencies, geographic expansion, fleet expansion and new verticals expansions

  • Lead a large operations function, building the necessary capacity, capabilities and tools

  • Be an active member of the leadership team of the company, contributing to the design and execution of the overall company strategy

  • Be accountable for the implementation of HSE processes to manage risk to employees

  • Be accountable for the implementation of policy, standards and procedures to run a high-reliability organisation and maintain accreditation to selected international standards such as ISO.

Skills/competencies required - what you will need:

  • You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, building and leading operations teams within a tech/e-commerce/deliveries/energy sector.

  • You have a BA in engineering/math/tech or a related field, an MBA is preferred

  • You have demonstrated distinctive knowledge of fleet operations, Including but not limited to fleet operations, maintenance, regulatory systems, vehicle restrictions, country safety standards, labour law, etc.

  • You have proven experience in a supply performance/S&OP/supply ops/marketplace/operations role within a tech company or similar business

  • You have built and managed large teams in the past – you understand how to effectively guide your team towards achieving a common goal.

  • Exemplary communication skills – you are a natural communicator and see the value of effective communication, you are able to inspire your team and colleagues.

  • You have a genuine interest to understand the business and how your domain influences the success of the business.

  • You have a strong and healthy relationship with data, with which you leverage your critical reasoning skills to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
