Our client is a leading B2B e-commerce startup that has grown from 8 people (2019) to 1100+ people in 3 years. They are founded by some of the ex-Senior Leadership @ Uber.

You will work with lots of different nationalities as people are based in North America, Europe (Portugal, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Germany, Estonia, UK), Dubai, Asia, North Africa etc.

Internal tech structure is set up like Spotify - Squads of 10-14 comprising: frontend, backend, DevOps, Tech Lead etc., like a startup within a startup.

This is the first B2B eCommerce platform globally that is focused on supporting social sellers. They provide a one-stop-shop by providing product, warehousing and logistics to merchants selling their goods on social sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok etc.

What will you be doing:

- Helping steer the direction of the backend team
- Designing high-quality engineering processes
- Improving happiness and productivity of engineering teams
- Creating development and growth plans
- Ensuring proper culture and communication patterns in the team
- Help develop and iterate product designs
- Development of backend code and infrastructure
- Owning features and parts of the company domain

Must have:

- Extra strong communication skills - There are many nationalities in this company. As the role is fully remote (lots of zoom calls), communication needs to be very clear with excellent English.
- People Management - maintaining a good culture, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- More than two years of engineering manager role experience
- More than five years of backend development experience as an individual contributor
- Leadership, teambuilding, and mentoring skills
- Organizational, planning, and documentation skills
- Experience in international working environments
- Experience with managing medium-sized teams
- Experience with setting up collaboration between engineering and product teams
- Experience with setting up collaboration between multi-functional teams
- Experience in designing and owning team processes
- Experience in developing and deploying microservice architectures
- Experience in cloud deployments
- Experience in microservice best practices

Nice to have:

- Experience with squad-based organizations
- Experience managing multi-functional teams
- Knowledge of underlying infrastructure technologies; monitoring, logging, relational and nonrelational databases
- Extensive experience with AWS.
